SweatSciences is a free educational sweat-and-hydration calculator and a set of product recommendations. We don't manufacture or sell any product. This page explains the limits of what we do, what data we handle, and the rules for using the site.
1Medical disclaimer
SweatSciences is educational only and is not medical advice. The calculator returns estimates, not a prescription, and using it does not create a doctor-patient relationship — including with any physician associated with the site.
Sodium, potassium, magnesium and fluid needs vary widely from person to person and from day to day. Both under-replacing and over-consuming electrolytes or water carry real health risks. The figures the calculator produces are population-based estimates derived from a reference sweat study and your own inputs; they are not measured for you and may not be right for you.
If you have high blood pressure, kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes, an eating disorder, or you are pregnant or nursing — or you take medication that affects fluid or electrolyte balance — talk to a qualified clinician before changing how much sodium, fluid, or any supplement you consume. Stop and seek medical care if you experience confusion, severe headache, repeated vomiting, fainting, or other concerning symptoms during or after exercise. Nothing here is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
2Affiliate disclosure
As an Amazon Associate, SweatSciences earns from qualifying purchases. Some links on this site — including the "Add to Amazon cart" button and the per-ingredient buttons — are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We may also participate in the affiliate programs of the brands we recommend (for example, Skratch Labs). We recommend products because they fit the protocol, not because of commission, and we aim to keep recommendations honest and accurate. Prices and product availability are set by the retailer, not by us.
3Privacy policy
What we collect
You can use the calculator without an account and without giving us any personal information. We collect data only in these cases:
- Your email — only if you choose to have your formula emailed to you, or sign up for updates. We store it together with the recipe inputs you entered (activity, duration, sweat estimate, electrolyte targets).
- Shared recipes — if you create a share link, the recipe (its inputs and any name you type) is encoded in that URL. We don't store the link unless you also email it to yourself.
- Basic technical data — standard server logs and privacy-respecting usage data (e.g., page views), used to keep the site running and improve it.
How we use it & who we share it with
We use your email to send what you asked for. Data you submit is stored with our infrastructure provider (Supabase) acting as our processor. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers. Affiliate links send you to third-party retailers (e.g., Amazon) whose own privacy policies govern what happens once you're on their site.
Your choices & rights
You can ask us to access or delete the information we hold about you, and you can opt out at any time. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA (access, deletion, correction, opt-out of sale/share — we don't sell or share); we honor these regardless of where you live. To make a request, contact us in plain text at privacy@sweatsciences.com. We keep email/recipe data only as long as needed for the purpose you gave it, and review this policy at least every 12 months.
Cookies
We use minimal, functional storage (e.g., your browser's local storage to remember your last recipe). We don't run third-party ad-tracking cookies.
4Terms of use
The calculator is an estimate
You use SweatSciences at your own discretion and risk. The outputs are educational estimates (see the medical disclaimer above) and come with no warranty of accuracy or fitness for any particular purpose.
Shared recipes (user content)
If you create or open a shared recipe, you're responsible for how you use it. A shared recipe is just a set of calculator inputs encoded in a link — it is not vetted by us and is not advice for anyone else. Don't share links with misleading names or content. We may disable a link or feature at any time. You agree not to misuse the site, scrape it, or use it to harm others.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, SweatSciences and its operators are not liable for any injury, loss, or damages arising from use of the site, the calculator, shared recipes, or products purchased through links here. Products you buy are governed by the retailer's and manufacturer's terms, not ours.
Governing law & changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA. We may update this page; the "last updated" date above will change, and continued use means you accept the current version.
